Admissions news |
For high school counselors
1. New key dates and deadlines (2024–2025) |
We've made some important changes to our application deadlines and admission notification dates:
Early action
-
Application completion deadline: November 1
-
Admission notification dates:
-
December 13: Ohio residents and Stamps Eminence applicants
-
January 24: Domestic non-residents and international applicants
Regular decision
-
Application completion deadline: January 15
-
Admission notification date:
-
March 7: All regular decision and early action deferred applicants
This notification approach provides more clarity around when a student will receive an admission decision. The earlier regular decision deadline will also allow us to notify applicants of our decision sooner.
2. Test-optional policy update |
Students interested in applying to Ohio State for 2025 will be able to choose if they want their test scores considered as part of their application.
Review is underway about whether Ohio State will remain test-optional for future applicants. A decision is planned to be announced in early 2025.

4. College Credit Plus updates |
Ohio State’s Academy Program welcomed nearly 500 students taking courses on the Columbus campus this fall!
We're also planning for a change in the leadership of this important program. Michele Brown, CCP director, will be retiring and leaving the university at the end of September. We're grateful for her long-time service to Ohio State!
Kelli Reavling-Cobb (reavling-cobb.1@osu.edu) will serve as a program contact until a new director is named.
5. FAFSA and ScholarshipUniverse priority date: February 15, 2025 |
The FAFSA and ScholarshipUniverse will open December 1. The priority date to submit both is February 15, 2025.
ScholarshipUniverse is an easy-to-use online scholarship-matching platform that helps students conveniently search and apply for both internal and external scholarship opportunities. Once a student applies to Ohio State and activates their username, they will be able to create a profile and apply for scholarships.
Any additional financial aid updates will be shared in future newsletters and on our Undergraduate Admissions website.
6. Buckeye Student Leadership Academy application opening in December |
Current juniors will be able to apply for our Buckeye Student Leadership Academy starting in December 2024 — so we encourage you to connect with any interested students about this valuable opportunity!
Our current cohort of 88 high school seniors will receive their application fee waiver codes later this month.
7. Honors & Scholars and the Stamps Eminence Program application updates |
High school seniors who are interested in being considered for either University Honors or one of our 16 Scholars programs are able to express their interest by answering a question on the Common Application.
The Stamps Eminence Scholarship Program is expanding the number of scholarship recipients to 50 for autumn 2025. This program, which covers the full cost of attendance plus a stipend for Ohio and non-resident students, supports high-achieving students who have made meaningful contributions to their communities.
To be considered for this premier academic scholarship, students must apply by the November 1 early action deadline and complete the Stamps Eminence application by November 12. |

8. Morrill Scholarship Program deadline reminder |
The Morrill Scholarship Program is Ohio State’s premier merit scholarship program rewarding academically talented students who are actively engaged in diversity-based leadership, service and social justice activities.
Interested students are strongly encouraged to meet Ohio State’s early action deadline of November 1. To apply, students are asked to complete a short essay as part of the Common Application. |

11. Access our school counselor portal and our new file uploader |
A friendly reminder that our counselor portal helps you navigate the Ohio State admissions process with your students. If needed, renew your access via this form — and please note that the process may take two to three business days.
