1. Important FAFSA update

2. Join us for Counselor Visit Day!

On Wednesday, April 10, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., we're hosting our annual Counselor Visit Day. This program is designed for new school counselors and those who have not yet visited our Columbus campus.

Counselors will enjoy our admissions overview presentation, a tour of our beautiful facilities, lunch and a discussion with several members of our admissions leadership team.

3. Next steps for students who have said "yes" to Ohio State

As we begin sending important enrollment communications to admitted students, here are some quick reminders to share with them:

• Activate and regularly check your Ohio State BuckeyeMail account. Important information about housing, orientation and financial aid is sent only to that inbox.
• Housing contracts are sent each Friday in the order that students paid their acceptance fee. You have two weeks to complete your contract. All students are required to live in university housing unless they are living at home or with a close relative. You must complete an approved exception form to live outside of university housing.
• We'll start sending orientation registration information at the end of March to students who have paid an acceptance fee.

4. Columbus campus admitted student profile

With more than 79,200 (+3.3%) new first-year applicants to the Columbus campus, we aim to welcome a first-year class of 8,250 to 8,350 in Columbus.

Our final decision release will occur on Friday, March 22, at which time all our Columbus campus applicants who submitted a complete application by the February 1 deadline should have a decision (except students in the audition process for music or dance).

• Our number of admitted students is larger than this time last year to support the goal of a larger first-year class.
• The academic quality of the admitted class remains similar to last year, with 69% of admits ranking in the top 10% of their class and 98% in the top 25%. The average ACT is 29.9, and the average SAT is 1405.
• Nearly 52% of our admits asked for their test scores to be considered; for Ohio residents, that percentage is 57%. 

5. Living-learning communities deadline: April 15

Ohio State offers 15 living-learning communities for incoming first-year students to consider. A living-learning community is a group of students with a common major, career and/or personal interest who live together on a residence hall floor.

Through partnerships with a variety of academic departments, faculty and staff, students have exclusive access to activities that tie directly into their academic success at Ohio State.

6. Welcome, Ariana Davis!

We are happy to announce that Ariana Davis has joined the admissions team at Ohio State as the new admissions counselor for our South and Southeast Ohio territories. Feel free to reach out to Ariana!

Dan Pohl continues to connect with select high schools in these counties through his work with rural and small-town initiatives. 

7. Finalizing Buckeye Student Leadership Academy cohort

The application for the 2024 Buckeye Student Leadership cohort closed on March 15. Applicants will receive a decision by the end of May. 

Students offered an opportunity to join the cohort will be required to confirm their acceptance by the date indicated in their email invitation and are required to have their parent or guardian sign an electronic permission form. 

8. Reminder of our regional campus pathway

While the deadline has passed to apply to our Columbus campus, high school seniors can still apply to our regional campuses for autumn 2024.

We encourage your students to check in with an admissions counselor to ensure they meet important deadlines for scholarships, housing, learning communities and more.

9. Honors, Scholars and merit scholarship notifications

• More than 13,000 of our early action admitted students have been awarded a university merit scholarship (Maximus, Provost, Trustee or National Buckeye).
• More than 500 students have been awarded a Morrill Scholarship Program award.
• More than 6,000 admitted students have been invited into the University Honors program.

• Our College of Education and Human Ecology offers a special education program, which prepares students for in-demand careers supporting children with learning or developmental disabilities.
