1. Important FAFSA update |
Ohio State is anxiously awaiting FAFSA records from the Department of Education. Once those records are received, we will work quickly to process them and release financial aid notifications. Based on the information we have today, we still anticipate sending financial aid notifications in April.
Note: Although Ohio State's priority date for submitting the FAFSA and creating a profile on ScholarshipUniverse has passed, students can still do both.
2. Next steps for students who have said "yes" to Ohio State |
As we begin sending important enrollment communications to admitted students, here are some quick reminders to share with them:
-
Activate and regularly check your Ohio State BuckeyeMail account. Important information about housing, orientation and financial aid is sent only to that inbox.
-
Housing contracts are sent each Friday in the order that students paid their acceptance fee. You have two weeks to complete your contract. All students are required to live in university housing unless they are living at home or with a close relative. You must complete an approved exception form to live outside of university housing.
-
We'll start sending orientation registration information at the end of March to students who have paid an acceptance fee.

3. Columbus campus admitted student profile |
With more than 79,200 (+3.3%) new first-year applicants to the Columbus campus, we aim to welcome a first-year class of 8,250 to 8,350 in Columbus.
Our final decision release will occur on Friday, March 22, at which time all our Columbus campus applicants who submitted a complete application by the February 1 deadline should have a decision (except students in the audition process for music or dance).
-
Our number of admitted students is larger than this time last year to support the goal of a larger first-year class.
-
The academic quality of the admitted class remains similar to last year, with 69% of admits ranking in the top 10% of their class and 98% in the top 25%. The average ACT is 29.9, and the average SAT is 1405.
-
Nearly 52% of our admits asked for their test scores to be considered; for Ohio residents, that percentage is 57%.
Because of the decision deadline extension to May 15, we will not be using a waitlist. Therefore, the decisions on March 22 will be final decisions.
4. Living-learning communities deadline: April 15 |
Ohio State offers 15 living-learning communities for incoming first-year students to consider. A living-learning community is a group of students with a common major, career and/or personal interest who live together on a residence hall floor.
Through partnerships with a variety of academic departments, faculty and staff, students have exclusive access to activities that tie directly into their academic success at Ohio State. |

5. Honors, Scholars and merit scholarship notifications |
To date:
-
More than 13,000 of our early action admitted students have been awarded a university merit scholarship (Maximus, Provost, Trustee or National Buckeye).
-
More than 500 students have been awarded a Morrill Scholarship Program award.
-
More than 6,000 admitted students have been invited into the University Honors program.
University merit scholarship notifications are complete. Morrill Scholarship Program notifications and Honors program notifications will continue through March.
6. Democracy Camp application is open |
The John Glenn College of Public Affairs will host its annual Democracy Camp program on Wednesday, July 24, for rising high school juniors and seniors.
Democracy Camp is a free, one-day conference packed with engaging conversation and education about local government engagement, voting, civic leadership, and hot policy topics.
The deadline to apply is June 1. Please contact Sydney Rubin with any questions. |

A note from our assistant vice provost |
We understand how important financial aid is for students and families to make an informed college decision. Our teams eagerly anticipate the delivery of FAFSA records — and once received, we will send financial aid notifications as soon as possible.
To give students more time to make an informed decision, Ohio State has also extended the deadline to pay an acceptance fee to Wednesday, May 15.
As you work with your juniors, please also remember that Ohio State has extended our test-optional pilot for students applying for autumn 2025 as a first-year student on the Columbus campus.
We're very grateful for your continued partnership. As always, to connect with us, please reach out to your admissions counselor or email us at askadmissions@osu.edu.
