1. Test-optional pilot extended for all 2024 and 2025 termsOhio State will extend the test-optional pilot for the next two application cycles, which applies to applicants for all 2024 and 2025 terms.
This extension allows us to continue to study the academic performance and retention of students who take advantage of the pilot.
Students are still encouraged to submit test scores if they think the scores strengthen their application. However, applicants who choose not to submit test scores will still receive full consideration for admission, university merit scholarships, and the Honors and Scholars programs.

2. Final transcripts due July 15Please submit final transcripts for all students who have paid their Ohio State acceptance fee by July 15.

3. Profile of the incoming first-year classIn the fall, we're targeted to enroll 8,000 to 8,250 first-year students. To date, 9,065 first-year students have paid their acceptance fee.
Here's a profile of this group:

Residency: 60% are Ohio residents, 28% are domestic non-residents and 12% are international.

Outside of Ohio, the top five states represented are New York, Illinois, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and California.

87 counties and 48 states (plus Puerto Rico and Washington D.C.) are represented.

Academic talent: 67% rank in the top 10% of their class; 95% rank in the top 25%.

Test scores: 51% requested that their test scores not be considered.

Majors: 76% are planning to pursue majors in three colleges: Arts and Sciences, Business, and Engineering.

Diversity: 21% are first-generation, and 14% identify as historically underrepresented minority students.

Summer Business Bootcamp: Saturday, July 15Business Bootcamp is a day-long summer program that aims to bring first-generation, rural or underrepresented minority students together to create an all-encompassing college preparation plan and to explore business as a potential major.
